Cabernet Déjà Vu at the 2017 Perth Royal Wine Show

Watershed Premium Wines Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon

It was a case of déjà vu for Watershed at this year’s Perth Royal Wine Show. For the second consecutive year, our 2014 Awakening Cabernet Sauvignon has triumphed to take out the hotly contested Best Cabernet Trophy. Watershed’s 2015 Awakening Cabernet was also awarded a Gold Medal at the show.

This success caps off an impressive run for Watershed’s flagship red wine. The 2015 Awakening Cabernet was awarded the 2017 Cowra Wine Show’s Best Cabernet Sauvignon Trophy having prevailed in a taste-off with the 2014 Awakening Cabernet.

As further testament to their quality, wine critic James Halliday awarded 98 points for the multiple trophy-winning 2010 Awakening Cabernet, which equalled the top score in the cabernet category, in his recently published 2018 Australian Wine Companion.

Watershed’s Founder and Managing Director, Geoff Barrett, states “These achievements place our cabernets among the very best in Australia and demonstrate the talent of our winemaking and viticultural teams.”

Collectively, Watershed’s Awakening Cabernets have accumulated over 30 gold medals, have received 13 show trophies and have been a finalist for the Jimmy Watson Trophy.
