Watershed’s Awakening Cabernet Sauvignons add to their impressive 2017 wine show medal tally having recently won more gold at two of Australia’s premier wine shows.
Watershed’s 2014 Awakening Cabernet was awarded Top Gold in its class at the 2017 Rutherglen Wine Show. The 2017 Royal Adelaide Wine Show was also a triumph with the 2014 and 2015 Awakening Cabernets each winning a Gold Medal.
It’s not only Gold Medals Watershed are racking up. For the second consecutive year, their 2014 Awakening Cabernet Sauvignon triumphed to take out the hotly contested Best Cabernet Trophy at the 2017 Perth Royal Wine Show. Their 2015 Awakening Cabernet was awarded gold.
Adding to their trophy cabinet, the 2015 Awakening Cabernet prevailed in a taste-off with the 2014 Awakening Cabernet to take the 2017 Cowra Wine Show’s Best Cabernet Sauvignon Trophy.
Watershed’s Founder and Managing Director, Geoff Barrett, states “Our mulit-award winning cabernet is crafted from the finest cabernet fruit from selected vineyards in the Wilyabrup and Wallcliffe sub-regions of Margaret River and reflects Watershed’s dedication to showcasing Margaret River’s world class terroir.”
As further tribute to the quality of their Cabernet, wine critic James Halliday awarded 98 points, the equal top score in the cabernet category, for the multiple trophy-winning 2010 Awakening Cabernet, in his recently published 2018 Australian Wine Companion.
The accumulation of awards for their Awakening Cabernet is impressive with 40 gold medals, 10 show trophies and a finalist for the Jimmy Watson Trophy.
