Watershed Celebrate Further Cabernet Success

Watershed Premium Wines are celebrating after our 2015 Awakening Cabernet won the Trophy for Best Cabernet Sauvignon at the 2017 Cowra Wine Show.

Watershed scooped two cabernet top-of-class gold medals at the show. The 2015 Awakening Cabernet was top of the “2016 & 2015”’ cabernet class with 96 points and the 2014 Awakening Cabernet was top of the “2014 & Older” cabernet class, also with 96 points. In a taste-off between the two wines, the 2015 prevailed to claim the coveted cabernet trophy.

This success follows an exceptional review from wine critic James Halliday who awarded 98 points for the multiple trophy winning 2010 Awakening Cabernet, which equalled the top score in the cabernet category, in his recently published 2018 Australian Wine Companion.

Watershed’s Head Winemaker, Severine Logan, states “We are very proud of the success of our Awakening Cabernets. Margaret River’s maritime climate makes it a top cabernet producing region and we feel privileged to be able to consistently produce cabernets of such high quality.”

Collectively, Watershed’s Awakening Cabernets have accumulated over 30 gold medals, have been a finalist for the Jimmy Watson Trophy and have received 12 trophies. The 2014 Awakening Cabernet received the Trophy for Best Cabernet of Show at the 2016 Royal Perth Wine Show.
